Ships Built in Leith

Leith no longer builds ships, but this website preserves the maritime heritage of the Port of Leith, Edinburgh, Scotland.

A BIG WELCOME — OLD & NEW — TO A MARITIME WEBSITE WITH A DIFFERENCE

This website is dedicated to ships and the sea, featuring some of my own books and a short history of the shipyard where I began my working life.

Let’s not forget the history of the other four shipyards that once stood along the stretch of foreshore that later became the Victoria Shipyards.

With a wealth of maritime experience behind us, we can also undertake commissions for research or speaking engagements, including television or podcast appearances.

Take your time to look around — you’ll find a growing collection of information on all things related to ships and the sea.

Stick with us. We’re only just getting started.

Keep checking back to see everything happening here at the Leith Built Ships website.

This website will be about ships and the sea, we will feature all the ships built at the Leith Shipyards from circa 1850 onwards. But we don’t stop there we shall also feature interesting stories about other ships, no matter where they happened to be built. With this background it should be no surprise that I turned to authoring books about Ships, Leith & Shipbuilding, so my books will also feature on their own pages. I may also feature other books of interest along with many eBooks in the making, alongside a brief history of the shipyard I started my working life in.
